Welcome to nottdance07.

We’ve made a number of changes to the festival this year, not least our new autumn timing, and we’ve taken the liberty of flagging up some festival highlights below, we hope you are able to join us! This year we are presenting a number of UK artists alongside our international visitors and we are particularly delighted to have two very contrasting works from UK artists at Bonington Gallery- the subtle and gently humorous Speaking Dance from Jonathon Burrows and Matteo Fargion, contrasted with the wild behaviour of Nigel Charnock’s Stupid Men, need we say more…

International work this year comes from a range of great artists, including a return visit from Alain Buffard (France), who will be presenting his glamourous new work – (Not) a Love Song, with truly amazing performances from his internationally celebrated cast, and no shortage of Chanel and Christian Lacroix to feast your eyes on. Alain will also be preforming his seminal work, Good Boy, created in 1998, a piece of work that sits between performance and live art.

In a world of contrasts, French artist Giséle Vienne is coming to Nottingham for the first time with new work Kindertotenlieder, a dark and visually stunning piece that will be accompanied live by the band KTL ( Peter Rehberg (Pita) and Stephen O’ Malley (Sunn O).

Other events to watch out for include, the final ever work by US based performance group Goat Island, choreographer Charles Linehan in conversation with Tony Herrington, Editor of WIRE magazine, and Hungarian choreographer, Eszter Salamon’s first visit to the UK with her extended family performing and playing live on stage…

And nottdance would not be complete without an offsite exploration of our great city – Andrew Brown, Simone Kenyon and Katie Doubleday invite us to do just that, and more, in various locations in Nottingham, with their Open City project. Watch out for further information handed out during the festival.

Our weekends are quite busy this year and on some nights we are having more than one show, so follow our stewards from one venue to the next! We’re also asking you “How Much?” you want to pay for your tickets on three shows in this year’s festival, after you have seen them.

We look forward to welcoming you to one of our events and to our festival bar – CAST, for a drink, an encounter, a discovery…

Best Wishes
